The best piece of advice that I could give to any bride-to-be is something that I wish I had learned sooner during the year of planning my own wedding. Some experts say the most stressful thing about planning a wedding is that you are always trying to keep everybody else happy.
As a bride-to-be you will often hear “If I were you, I would…”, or “why don’t you do this…”
The trick to these ideas, especially when posed by mom or soon-to-be mom-in-law, is to answer with, “hmm, that sounds lovely! I’ll definitely keep that in mind”.
This will certainly minimise any family politics or tensions and the best part is, you don’t have to use their advice. Once they feel that you will consider their suggestions, they move onto the next “great idea” for your wedding day.
Planning your wedding is meant to be fun, so minimize tensions where you can and enjoy the journey to married life.
